Perching here and gathering my thoughts ...

A haunting weekend

03 February 2004 ~ 11:36

Mark has already written much about our poor baby Luna who we had to have put to sleep on Saturday, so I wont touch on that. Suffice to say, we are both still sad and missing her a lot, as is little Sky, her ratty friend. Sky is all alone now so well have to see how she does and if she gets too lonely, well get her a friend, probably a baby rat she can be a mummy to.

We had some friends to stay for the weekend, Matt & Nicky, a couple from Yorkshire (Northeast of England). Actually, Matt is from Massachusetts like Mark and also a Red Sox fan like him; Nicky is British. They came down Friday night and stayed until Monday morning, and we all visited The Tower of London on Saturday. On Sunday I went with them to Hampton Court, Henry VIIIs palace on the Thames, while Mark stayed at home.

We had a spooky experience at Hampton Court, which is famously very haunted. Nicky and I were in the ladies room washing our hands when the door began opening and closing on its own. Nobody was there and it was an inner door so it couldnt have been the wind that caused it.

So apart from the sadness of losing Luna it was quite a good weekend and nice to meet such a down-to-earth couple who, like us, are half British, half American.
