Perching here and gathering my thoughts ...

Why the UKs Daily Mirror is not worth the paper it is written on

12 March 2007 ~ 12:40

In Todays Daily Mirror, the front page story features a photo of Heather Mills, estranged wife of Sir Paul McCartney, wearing a mink coat. The article decries her as a hypocrite for slating models like Naomi Campbell who wear fur.

However, on closer examination if one reads the complete story on another page, it turns out the photograph was actually taken in 1989! Almost 18 years ago!

Im completely at a loss as to understand why this item is considered a story. OK so Heather Mills once wore fur, but she came to know the true horror of the fur industry from her husband. Isnt it more relevant that even though she is separated from Paul McCartney, she still continues to campaign for animal rights? If she was really so shallow, wouldnt she have given up on the animal rights when she split from McCartney?

I have been a vegetarian for 22 years. No doubt if I were famous, the Daily Mirror would publish a photo of me eating a beef burger aged 17 with the headline Squirrel is a Hypocrite!

Is this really the standard of journalism in the UK today? No wonder Id rather read celebrity magazines!
