Immigration Scandal

27 January 2004 ~ 09:56

In Mondays Daily Express newspaper, the headline story was about a Nigerian-born immigration official based at Dover, who has been caught with an Indefinite Leave to Remain stamp and hundreds of Nigerian passports at her house. Its believed she was stamping the passports then mailing them back to Nigeria. They have no idea how many illegals got into the UK this way, but the woman had been working for British Immigration for two years!

With the Indefinite Leave to Remain, such as my husbands got, the holders of these passports are basically permanent residents, free to come and go in and out of the UK as they please.

The woman has not yet been charged with any offence, but I sincerely hope she is, and goes to prison for a long, long time. There is almost nothing quite so vile as a corrupt official. These people have positions of great responsibility and to betray the people they serve is indefensible.
