Perching here and gathering my thoughts ...

End cruel rat lab tests

01 October 2009 ~ 16:29

I was very impressed to read a letter in today's Metro newspaper from a guy who obviously feels the same way as I do about pointless animal experiments. We often read of experiments from the school of the bleedin' obvious, but this 'weird science' is so pointless and cruel and whatsmore it is our tax money that is going towards paying for these mad scientists to make their dubious living. Personally I don't know how they sleep at night.

Here is the letter. I have omitted the gentleman's name for privacy's sake:

"I was perplexed at the article regarding babies who have suffered injury having a higher pain threshold as teenagers, according to experiments on rats (Metro, Tuesday). Am I to take it from this that scientists have been deliberately injuring baby rats then subjecting them to pain in later life?
Moreover what is the conclusion of this experiment? That we should deliberately injure human babies to make them more resilient?"

On another note, why are actors in uproar over the arrest of director Roman Polanski? The man is a child rapist who has eluded justice for too long. He deserves to be extradited to the US to face jail time. Would the French authorities who have sheltered him so long like it if an American man raped a French teenager and fled back to the USA only to be protected by the US government?
